Former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh and the Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Pascal Agbodike, has said the incoming administration of the governor-elect, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, will produce football talents like the current interim coach of Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, Kanu Nwankwo, Augustine Azuka Okocha, Mikel John Obi and the former Chelsea FC striker, Didier Drogba in Anambra state.
The duo noted that the governor-elect, has already put in place, all the necessary tools to float a strong football club for the state to actualise the vision.
They made the disclosure during the final match of the just concluded Soludo’s Victory Under 17 Inter Local Government Football Championship, played at Awka City Stadium, on Saturday evening.
The match was played between Onitsha North Council Area and Nnewi North Council Area and it ended 5-0 in favour of Nnewi North.
In their seperate remarks, shortly after the game, the sponsor of the championship, Barrister Asha Nnabuife and Nnewi North team leader, Honourable Adukwulu Amobi, described the success of the Championship as ‘heart-warming.
They said the team would compete in any forthcoming national football season in the country. They noted that the new propose football club may replace Ifeanyi Uba FC in the state.
They commended the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano on the construction of Awka City Stadium, the Airport and other major projects across the state.
The Championship was organised by All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG).
