Paul Onuachu is now the joint top scorer in the Belgian top-flight league and his current form may soon attract Super Eagles call-up.
The player recorded another brace in KRC Genk’s 2-2 draw with KV Oostende.
The giant centre-forward, who was overlooked by coach Gernot Rohr for next month’s friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia, has now netted six goals to tie with Daan Heymans of Waasland-Beveren at the top of the goals chart in the Jupiler League.
A panel of experts predicted before the new season kicked off that Onuachu will finish as Goal King in Belgium.
Onuachu drew home team Genk level early in the first half when he headed home a corner.
He then stepped forward to convert a penalty in the 52nd minute for his brace.
He is now just three goals shy of his tally for last season when he finished as Genk leading scorer in the league.
