Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has boldly stated that no leader in the history of Nigeria has ever provided social interventions to Nigerians like President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor made this remark during the handing over of foodstuffs from the federal government in partnership with Private Sector Coalition against Covid-19 (CACOVID) to Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairmen of 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
This is for onward distribution to the less privileged in the local governments. He said the gesture was part of continued measures by the federal government to cushion effect of Coronavirus on the less privileged Nigerians.
He therefore charged the IMC Chairmen to make sure the items get to the less privileged in their LGAs.
“None of these items is for the leaders. You must get the less privileged that really needs these items and distribute it to them. We have been doing this with our meager resources, until this intervention from the federal government, so we must make maximum use of it.
“You the local government chairmen are responsible for the success or otherwise of the distribution. So you must make sure nobody comes there to intimidate you, no matter how highly placed”, the governor warned.
