Chairman, Council of Elders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has explained that the story of his life would not be complete without talking about sports
He made the remark in his Glass House office, Ugwu Orji, Owerri while playing host to Imo branch of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria last week.
Ahaejiagamba as he is popularly called who was formerly the proprietor of the Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club used the occasion to rub minds with the sports writers on a number of contemporary national issues including sports.
He has reminded that he has been associated with sports from childhood where he gave a good account of himself in athletics. He expressed appreciation to the sports journalists for their support and criticisms, suggestions while he held sway as the doyen of sports back in the days.
The Board of Trustees (BOT) member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) noted that sports is a very important aspect of the society critical for human development as well as a tool for developing national image and character of the nation.
He went on to note that sports is the only element of national unity adding that every other thing that wields us together as a nation has gone.
Decrying the killing in Ebonyi he observed that in the history of this nation, it is not known that the Igbo has ever attacked anybody or group of persons wherever they reside wondering why the Fulani herdsmen would come and massacre Ebonyi indigenes.
