ASEF honours elevated members, urges government to remove military off streets

The Association of Ex. Footballers and Friends (ASEF), Imo State has honored their members who were recently elevated to Football Association (FA).
Performing the award ceremony at their Secretariat which is located at Dan Anyiam Stadium, the Interim president of the Association, Cecil Eke, noted that the awards came on the heels of the election of their members to Football Association (FA), where Barr. Ifeanyi Dike was elected as vice chairman, FA, Imo State, Chief Charles Nnadi was elected as vice chairman, marketing Committee board, Imo FA and Mr. Ifeanyi Ekwueme as member Marketing Committee board, In-charge of security.

 

Eke hinted that with their positions at the FA, it means that the issues concerning ASEF will be given the needed attention and reposition the association for better.
Speaking on insecurity in the state, he urged government to convene stakeholders security meeting to address the issues so that Imo can return to its former night lives and free movement of citizens.

In his contribution, the pioneer/founding president of ASEF, Neville Okere hinted that ASEF was formed to bring together ex. Footballers and friends of the footballers to champion a good cause for members and see to the welfare of all and sundry, so that there is a common ground for all to benefit.

The Former Secretary, Heartland FC noted that they support the younger footballers by fishing out talents amongst them to project them to higher play.
Speaking on the security challenges in the state, Okere called on citizens to stop peddling fear, adding that the peddled rumors have contributed to the heightened fear in the state. He urged the state government to take the military off the streets as their presence is contributing to the palpable fear in the state.

He lauded the awardees for honouring the invitation and urged them to use their good offices to further the ideals of football in the state, especially ASEF.
