To have a peaceful community and a fertile future, students and pupils of Assemblies of God Bethel Seminary Umudibia Nekede, Owerri West local government government area, Imo State, have been charged to work devotedly, excellently and righteously.
This charge was given by the Acting Rector of the school, Rev. Chidi Lawson Okafor, while presenting an address during the biennial interhouse sports competition, held last week, at the school playing ground.
He emphasized that when the children compose themselves well and strategically by pursuing academic excellence, they would always be knowledgeable while harvesting economic prosperity and living freely and comfortably.
“To God be the glory, Bethel Seminary had broken the iceberg and a new record is being created today…I urge you, my children, to live a positive life style by repackaging yourselves through acquiring sound, quality information. If there is any venture or vocation that requires continuous acquisition of information, it is the the academic sector.
Students must keep updating their knowledge in order to remain relevant, not obsolete and keep meeting academic, social needs of the people of which they are part of”, the Rector said.
Reminding the students and pupils of the importance of having God first in all their dealings, activities so that they grow godly, goodly and maturely, Okafor encouraged “them to have control of what you learn and in this respect and I say again that in your learning, you need to try to build your own knowledge base. Do not be programmed by random input. in random input, you are not in control of what you read, what you watch and what you see from papers and trash cans. Random learning has no organized sources. It is not purposeful, it is not planned and it is not selected”.
While hailing parents for their efforts and contributions to the good of the school and peace of the community, Okafor advised parents to often train their children well and in the way of God so that when they grow old, they will not depart from them, stressing that the 2022 interhouse sports competition was effectively organized to “bring the students, parents and management together to the good of all. Those (champions) who put in their best and time to the success of the competition. Parents should enroll their children in good school as Bethel Seminary Umudibia Nekede because the staff are God fearing people who are devoted to give the pupils best education.
“We have the vision that it must never be all academics and we mix it with other extracurricular, to come together to have a nice time visa viz, the interhouse sports competition. The success of the school is as a result of unity, brilliance and morality of management”.
Students and pupils who took part in the competition and won different prizes were rewarded adequately with House C (green color) emerging champion in by both Boys and Girls competitions. House B (red color) had 2nd Position in both Boys and Girls category while A&D (blue&pink color) winning 3rd position.
