After three straight losses Heartland Football Club of Owerri Wednesday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, put smiles on the faces of its supporters and management when it secured its first victory in four games
Former African champions, Enyimba Football Club fell victim to the Heartland boys who appear to have regained form as they conceded two goals scored in each half.

The match which kicked off 4.42 pm suffered delay because there were issues over clearance of Heartland players and 3 minutes later Heartland scared their opponents with a shot from Samuel Nnoshiri.
The Aba boys showed control of the middle and appeared better coordinated for the greater part of first half before Shedrack Oghali in the 33rd minute nodded in a powerful one into an empty as the goal keeper was not in position.

The second half resumed with the visitors showing more guts and determination to draw level but the defence line of Pascal Eze, Benjamin Francis, Kenneth Ikwugbado gave a good account of themselves halting their every move,
Goal hungry Heartland gaining more confidence powered home another in the 53rd minutes through gangling Adache Emmanuel when he outwitted two Enyimba defenders to put his team up.

Enyimba made 3 changes while Heartland made one. While two of Heartland’s boy were booked with yellow card three Enyimba boys suffered same fate. Heartland boys it was gathered has been under pressure following poor attention from the government officials handling their affairs.
It was gathered that they had no food hours before the match until the general manager gave out 2k to each of the players for lunch.
