Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called for prayers for a smooth transition to the next leaders of the state and the nation in the general and successful completion of all ongoing projects.
Umahi made the declaration while speaking at the end of Sunday church service held at New Government House Chapel, Ochudo centenary City, Abakaliki.
While declaring the seven days of fasting and prayers for the programmes of the State, Governor Umahi pledged to leave the decision of who replaces him to God and the people to ensure that those who emerge would be magnanimous in victory.
“You cannot battle with the Lord, if he has said that he will bring it to pass, so if you plan to amass wealth through public office, God will resist you in 2023 in Jesus’ name, Amen.
“Anything you are contesting that you don’t have peace, you have to avoid it. For me, I have left my life to God to manage and to manipulate and I am very convinced that since we could do what we did in Ebonyi State, God will show mercy and we will replicate what we have done here at the National level.
“The Presidency at this time is such that if God has not called you, it is going to be very difficult.
The Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi admonished Christians to always hold on to God in times of difficulty for a spiritual solution to their predicaments.
“Amid darkness, God’s light shines, when you go through challenges and you don’t have the right information, you are liable to be troubled, in the world you have challenges but amid challenges, there is always victory at last.
“Accept God’s word, God’s word can never come late, if God says you will have victory, you will have victory, in believing, you will have victory, in doubt, you will fail, don’t give in, don’t accept anything that is not consistent with the word of God.
