Leadership Education Mission for Africa (LEMA), a Theological Seminary which trains and equips men with rich knowledge of God for promotion of selfless service to humanity, has matriculated first students, urging the students to imbibe spirit of excellence.
The matriculation ceremony was held last week at the seminary campus, Ofekata Orodo, Mbaitoli local government area, Imo State.
Advising the matriculants to work hard in academics as well as learn skills in agriculture and technology to earn money while growing their churches, the President of LEMA Institute and LEMA Theological Seminary, Rev. Joshua Amaezechi, reminded them that the philosophy of the institute was total “discipleship of the head, heart and hand”, saying students are expected to seek, receive sound knowledge of the bible and study it, develop passion for soul winning, acquire leadership counseling and hands-on skills for ministry.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the institute, Trent Martin, admonished the students to learn sense of integrity, be committed to gathering biblical wisdom. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
Earlier, Dean of Faculty and Administration, LEMA Institute, Rev. Dr. Hope Ejiochi Mgbeoduru added that one of the goals of the Theological Institute was to make sure every LEMA ministry is led by qualified pastors, informing that the school has a library which is open to the public, explaining that it offers different programs for host community kids that encourage readership, computer literacy and bible knowledge.
She noted that LEMA Institute has helped to reduce suffering at Ofekata Orodo especially during the COVID-19 outbreak by providing money to widows, youths to start up business, water, promoted prayer in churches through their prayer arms home and abroad, as well as provided sermon notes, daily bible reading materials online to encourage spiritual growth.
In his keynote address, the Department of Religion and Human Relations, Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Oliver Uche reflected on meaning of good leadership and role of theological education in community development and edification.
Appreciating their son, Rev. Joshua Amaezechi, staff and the United Nations partners especially for gracing the occasion and bringing development to Ofekata Orodo community, the royal father of the event, HRH, Eze Marcel Ughegbu (Akata 11 of Ofekata Orodo), promised to support the success of the seminary as he encouraged the students to take good advantage of the opportunity to advance better living.
