As the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN) celebrates her dodransbicentennial anniversary (175 years), the Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly, His Eminence, Nzie Nsi Eke has said that the Almighty God has blessed the church beyond imagination.
Speaking during the 175th anniversary thanksgiving service held at Owerri Parish, Aladinma, Owerri Presbytery last Sunday, the Prelate noted that God’s Grace has kept the church all these years, adding that the Church recognized the discipleship-making effort which is the primary responsibility given to the church as recorded in Matthew 28: 19-20. He lauded all and sundry for their commitment.
In his comments, the Moderator of South Central Synod, Very Rev. Chukuma Kalu Okorie applauded the Owerri Presbytery for the coordinated and organized hosting of the event, while calling on members of the church to continue to pray for the church, Nation and world at large the for reign of peace.
In her remarks, the Owerri Presbytery Moderator, Rt Rev. Mrs. Grace Enene Oku said that she was grateful to God for the success of the event, stressing that the work of God must go on despite the challenges buffeting the church.
In his contribution, the Clerk of Owerri Presbytery and the National Director, Presbyterian Students Fellowship (PSF), Very Rev. David Ama Kalu posited that they are appreciative of God for the vision and mission of the church in Nigeria and beyond, insisting that the courage, commitment and sacrifices of the mission forbearers will not be in vain. He posited that Owerri Presbytery will continue to propagate the kingdom of God, while working hard to diminish the forces of darkness.
He commended all the Parishes who attended the event, especially members of the South Central Synod led by the Moderator, Very Rev. Chukwuma Okorie and the Clerk Very Rev. Israel Iduma Chukwu.
The highpoint of the event was award presentation to some members of the church who have contributed in one way or another in the growth of the church. The award ranged from Posthumous, Pillars of support, Worthy Ambassador, Excellent Steward, Icon of Leadership to Voice of the Voiceless.
