In order to bridge religious peace and security among Muslims and Christians in the country, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has sensitized Muslim leaders in Imo State.

Among the Muslim leaders in the program with NOA were, Barr. Suleiman Usuf Njoku (Chief Imam, Imo State Central Mosque), Aliyu Umar Ucheriodo (Deputy Imam, Imo State Central Mosque ), Ibrahim Bello, (Chief Imam, Ideato Central Mosque), Imam Dauda Abubakar Osuikpa (Chief Imam, Orlu Mosque) and Imam Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Mikaioa Onumaegbu (Imo State Police Command).

The sensitization program was carried out on Wednesday at the Central Mosque Owerri by the state Director, National Orientation Agency, Nazzy Njoku and the Deputy Director, Special Duties NOA, Ezerebo Eva who charged the Muslim clerics to continue to talk to their worshippers on the need for religious tolerance and righteousness with a view to maintaining love, peace, unity and security, saying with peace and security fully enjoyed social economic development will be permanently sustained and richly shared among citizens.

Njoku reminded religious leaders and opinion moulders with chivalric and convincing spirit of the importance of reorientation of their faithful, fathers, mothers, children and wards, students, pupils or scholars to scale down crimes, violence and evil.

According to the NOA state Director, “we are here to talk to critical stakeholders of Muslim in Imo State about peace- building, security and unity of Nigeria so that they orientate their worshippers more on the need for those. That is what the NOA has started doing and we hope this will scale down this level of mistrust, separatist agitation, insecurity and all forms of vices bedeviling the society. Sectarian violence would be discouraged by love, righteousness and tolerance among Muslims and Christians if you reflect your belief for peace in your attitude. NOA will continue to sensitize opinion moulders on importance of peace”.

Assuring the agency of total tolerance, peace and cooperation among Muslims and Christians to continue to move forward and live in comfort, Chief Imam, Imo State Central Mosque, Owerri, Barr Suleiman Yusuf Njoku, said Islam is a religion of peace and love which does not condone evil, “as clerics of Islam we would not leave any stone unturned while re-orientating our worshippers. NOA is working well and we appreciate your effort”.
