Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, yesterday swore in the new chairman and two other members of Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC).
Speaking during the swearing-in, the governor said it has become very necessary to strengthen the organs of government at the grassroot level, as the State government was determined to conduct local government election as soon as possible.
While congratulating the appointees, he charged them to ensure they keep to the principal of the oath of office they swore to. He regretted that the insecurity which befell the state proved an obstacle to the LGA election, but noted that through the concerted effort of his government, supported by the federal government, the security situation of the state has greatly improved, as the coast is now clear for the conduct of the election
Speaking on behalf of his members, Chairman of the Commission, Charles Ejiogu appreciated the governor for finding them worthy and assured him that they will hit the ground running, in order to deliver on the mandate given to them.
“Your Excellency, we will swing into action, do the necessary consultations with critical stakeholders and at the end of the day, we hope to justify the confidence you have reposed in us”.
