Elder Statesman, Ambrose Ejiogu retires from active politics

A seasoned administrator and Politician, Sir Ambrose Ejiogu has announced his retirement from partisan politics and as well handed over the stage to the young generation.

He disclosed his decision, at his country home at Umuakuru, Emekuku Owerri during a press briefing to announce his decision.

The press briefing which he titled ‘Farewell to Partisan Politics’, according to the veteran administrator, was also used to recall his over 25 years in politics which dated back to the era of the great Dee Sam Mbakwe, former Governor of Imo State.

Sir Ambrose Ejiogu, who said, he used his years of service in public administration and politics to uplift the ideas of good governance, ensure equity, promote peaceful resolution of disputes, added that he used his years in service to discourage bullying of the poor people.

Sir Ejiogu, who was the Chairman of International Glass Industry, Aba, Corporative and Commerce bank as well as Chairman of Golden Guinea Breweries PLC, was also a member of governing council of Imo State Polytechnic , Umuagwo where his special administrative skills were brought to bear.

The general apex leader of PDP in Owerri zone and Chairman PDP elder’s Council thanked God for preserving his life and for granting him the wisdom to contribute to humanity.

He made it clear that, having made remarkable achievements in his political and general administrative career at the age of 84, it was time to quit the political stage for the young players to take over.
“As I attained the age of 84 years, I thank God for his special disposition to me and my family.
I believe that I have had my time in the public domain. I have contributed my quota in the economic, socio-political development of Imo State and Nigerian.

“It is now time for me to step aside from partisan politics and leave the centre-stage for the younger generation. The future is theirs and my prayer is for them to get it right so that our dear Imo State and indeed Nigeria will continue to march towards greatness”,
He announced that apart from quitting politics, he would not be a member of any political party but would only serve as an elder statesman.
