The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, has called on all the political parties in Nigeria to zone their 2023 Presidency to Igbo land.

Ibegbu in an interview with News Echo in Enugu Monday, stated that zoning the 2023 Presidency to Igbo land would heal the wounds of the civil war and show that Nigerian has come of age in its political engagements.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Scribe also commended the Northern, Western and Niger Delta elders for supporting the call for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023.

Ibegbu, however, enjoined the Igbo political class and other stakeholders to put their acts together with a view to having a common voice to make the presidency feasible.

He also lauded the Federal Government delegation to all parts of the country following the ENDSARS protest, appealing to the Government to ensure some of the demands of the protesters were met.

On Ohanaeze election, Ibegbu said that the tenure of the present Executive would expire in January next year, stressing that the date for the poll is expected to be officially announced next week.

He explained that the Ohanaeze election would be free, fair and credible, adding that zoning arrangement would be followed to stem tension in the pan-Igbo group.

“Many credible Igbo men and women have indicated interest to contest for different positions to pilot the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for another term”, Ibegbu added.
