More lights has been thrown at why Aba Landlords And Protection Association (ALPA), an umbrella body of house owners in Aba, Abia State announced a one- month free rent for tenants leaving in their houses at the Enyimba city.
The landlords association, headed by Chief Alphonsus Udeigbo (President general) had on Saturday October 10, after the general meeting of the group at their Port Harcourt Road office, came out with a decision to write off one month rent of all tenants leaving in the houses of the ALPA members.

The group in a statement which they made available to News Echo in Umuahia on Wednesday October 13, through the special media consultant to the president general of the association, Comrade Greatman Onuoha, said the the landlords felt the plight of the beleaguered tenants, occasioned by Covid 19.

It however noted that Aba landlords also suffered terrible effects of Covid- 19 pandemic, as their businesses slumped to the challenges of global economic recession.
The media consultant assured that the free rent would be enjoyed in the month of October, 2020 by the tenants.

“It is our way of showing that we are also our brothers’ keepers, as we believe that a gift given to one during hardship is more appreciated than one given when there isabundance”, the release noted.
The Aba landlords urged other able individuals in Abia State to take a cue from their sacrifice, by rendering assistance to Aba residents.

Comrades Benson Imo and Innocent Okoye, secretary- general and public relations officer of association, also signed the free rent documents.
