Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has called on contractors and supervisors handling the control of gully erosion sites at Ideato South to redouble their efforts to deliver a project that will meet the aspirations of the people.
The governor who handed out this task during an inspection visit to the site of the gully erosion, urged the contractors and supervisors to merge prudence and proficiency in order to fully achieve the aim of the contract.
He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the ministry of finance for bringing the intervention to address the major erosion problem in the state.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that the project as designed is completed in record time , so the people can get value for it”.
He expressed reservations on the supervising mechanism which he said has to be strengthened, to impress on the contractor to put more effort and work in line with the contact specifications.
“It is also the duty of the government, as the supervising consultant to put the necessary checks, so there will be the appropriate balances to go with it”.
Responding, the management of the contracting firm, assured that they were doing a quality job that will stand the test of the time and promised that it will be completed by August 2021.
