Uzodimma restores moribund  Inyishi, Amauzari dam projects

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has restored Inyishi and Amauzari dam projects with construction work going on therein.
This was revealed by the Commissioner of Public Utilities, Barr Tony Umezuruike, when he inspected the dam sites, last week with his retinue of officers.

In a release signed and made available to News Echo by Ogaraku Chimezie, PRO, Ministry of Public Utility, Umezurike disclosed that the two dams which are projects of the federal government were abandoned by the contractors handling them as most equipments like water treatment plant, transformer, reservoir among others were vandalized.

Umezuruike stressed that it “took the concern of the deputy governor, Prof Placid Njoku and the commitment of the governor, Hope Uzodimma, who personally visited the Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, to get the projects recaptured”.
The Commissioner mentioned that the dams will benefit the host and surrounding communities immensely, urging the people to protect public facilities located at their areas, charging the supervising agency, Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority to ensure close supervision so that the projects are vandalized again.

As Transition Committee Chairman of Ikeduru, Hon Tony Iwuamadi and his Isiala Mbano counterpart, Hon Chika Okorike, Mr Edwin Ike, Hon Godson Obijiaku and their traditional rulers, Eze George Ibezim and Eze Andrew Osuji appreciating government for restoring the dams, praying that they should be completed soon so that their people will not suffer much in sourcing portable water.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the SA to the governor on Urban Water, Hon Tanana Biaduo, General Manager, Imo Water and Sewerage Corporation, Engr. Emeka Ugoanyanwu, representative of Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority, Engr Victor Adikuru, Head of Hydrology and Hydro Geology, Ministry of Public Utility, Mr Victor Agwunobi, SA to the Commissioner, Dr Kingsley Mbara.
