Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has donated vehicles to monarchs in Imo State. The vehicle gifts were only for leadership of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers in both the state and the local government areas.
Giving the vehicles out last Thursday to the Ezes at the Government House Owerri, Uzodimma explained that the gesture was geared at rewarding the monarchs for working so effectively and dutifully to maintaining peace and orderliness at their various communities.
According to the Governor, “with good facilities and sound mobilities, night movement is easier and at night people can enjoy the state. I want to drive economy and Owerri is now gradually being cleaned up and we hope to reinvent Imo to be the cleanest state in Nigeria.
“Very soon, a constitutional role will be created for our monarchs in line with federal government policy. A strong welfare packages would be made available to the monarchs to cushion their suffering soon. I plead with the monarchs to continue to do their best to advance peace at their communities”.
Hailing the Governor for the gesture, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Rubby Emele, said the move is an evidence of Uzodimma’s commitment towards the comfort, welfare and wellbeing of the traditional rulers.
“The vision behind the donation of vehicles by government is to enable the monarchs discharge their duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently. I thank Imo people for their firm support on the 3r administration. I also urge them to increase the support because Uzodimma has shown clearly, in concrete terms, that he has come to work and he meant well for Imo people. We expect more especially on infrastructure (road) and human capital development”, Emele maintained.
