Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has been decorated as the Great Grand Commander of Ebonyi Hall of Fame, GGCEHF. The State Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene, administered the honours on the Governor at the Executive Council Chambers, Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki. Speaking, the Chairman of the State Honours Committee and Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe said the conferment on the Governor as the Great Grand Commander of Ebonyi Hall of Fame followed the dictates of law 008 of the 2022, Ebonyi Honours Law.
He clarified that the Award was instituted to reward Distinguished Ebonyians and well-wishers who have contributed enormously to the creation and development of the State.
The Chairman of the Honours Committee emphasized that the highest honours was bestowed on the Governor due to his trailblazing role in the rebuilding of the State since assumption of Office in 2015.
The Governor, now the recipient of the highest Honours in the State, is expected to confer other categories of Honours on deserving Ebonyians and Nigerians on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Governor Umahi has sworn in a new Special Assistant, Monday. He is Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuonu.
Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuonu is to serve as Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters. He hails from Ezza South Local Government Area of the State. Performing the swearing in of the new Special Assistant during the Executive Council meeting, Umahi remarked that the appointment would be the last in the category of State Executive Council until the end of his administration. He charged the new Special Assistant to brace up to the service of the State.
