Member who represents Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Chima Uju, has promised to empower over 2000 persons of his constituency to beat poverty, vulnerability and insecurity.
The legislator gave the assurance while interacting with his constituents during the yuletide celebration at his residence, Umuorji, Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State. He said plans are being geared to actualise the feat which he said will be massive, saying 2022 will witness rich empowerment of his people especially those who sacrificed to his election in 2019. “We are out for good governance and fair politics. Before Easter, over 2000 persons will be empowered in different trades to help them eke out a proper living”.
Uju who was instrumental to the restoration of peace at Awarra Court Area and Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta in general, maintained that he has done several solid humanitarian projects across the constituency, sponsored bills and motions in the House of Representatives even as he belongs to many vital committees in the House that give him the edge to do exploit in the Assembly and his constituency.
According to the lawmaker, “our enemies shall always scatter. We are celebrating downfall of the devil and his agents. Indeed, the best way to govern a people is not by erecting billboards. It is by identifying their needs and meeting them squarely. I’m a peaceful person who fears God and loves humanity dearly. I got Omeudo title from Awarra Court Area hence the peace I restored there which is paying off today. I have been humiliated by enemies of goodness because I defeated them in election and God has been with me.
“Anything I am, I have, is from God and I will always use all God has given me to bless humanity to the glory of God. My political opponents are weak and have scattered. If they are strong enough, let them empower people better than I do. And I know they cannot because they have no capacity to even win election, let alone doing humanitarian projects and services”.
He vowed that nothing will make him “change from being good (Omeudo). We are exemplifying good governance and fair democracy with a view to employing, empowering, building roads, installing water and light for the people and we are equal to the task to changing the ugly narrative of greed, acrimony and insecurity in the oil rich constituency. We provided water scheme to 20 communities: Umuagwo, Awarra among others including ongoing water scheme. We built schools in Ejemekwuru and others. Before Easter, over 2000 persons will be empowered meaningfully to empower others in the future”.
“Roads have been awarded across the constituency: from Oguta to Egwe, Izombe to Ugbele, about 62 persons have benefited from employment in the federal level and before December ends (2022) 250,000 persons will be empowered with cash to start their own businesses. I want to set a pace on good representation (governance)”, Uju added.
