Now that the Imo State House of Assembly has sacked the Majority Leader and member representing Ikeduru state constituency, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, what will be his position of play in the cauldron of political pot of the state.
The Speaker, Hon. Paul Emeziem who did not give any reason, called for his removal at the plenary session on Thursday and it was sustained by the members. He may have been removed as a result of insurbordination, disrepect for the Speaker, among others.
It would be recalled that Uche Ogbuagu who won his election under the PDP platform defected to APC immediately Hope Uzodinma was declared winner. Ogbuagu having abandoned the former governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who brought him into political limelight would have to dangle in the jigsaw of the state politics. The comedian turned politician attracted a lot of criticisms when he defected to APC. Abandoning PDP, the party that packaged him to make his first political launch.
Uche was later made the Majority Leader, a position he held until his removal yesterday. He has since been replaced with the member representing Owerri West, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi.
Ogbuagu has this to say ‘I have been informed this morning, on my way to the Chamber of my removal as Majority Leader, Imo State House Of Assembly Owerri. A position I’ve held since March 24, 2020. I am however surprised that the Speaker, Mr. Paul Emeziem decided to discountenance my letter to him yesterday, dated March 3, 2021 and read that his comic letter of removal. Since then, there have been bombardment of calls and SMS to me on my phone lines by concerned Imolites, my constituents, friends, colleagues and numerous media houses across the globe to confirm the incidence.
I have so far not made any statement to any individual or group on this issue and so I advice that any of such fake releases be disregarded.
While I beg for time to study the development, consult with the party leadership and in no distant time, make clear statements. I thank you all for your overwhelming out-pour of love. I also implore all concerned citizens to remain calm.
What matters is what Almighty God says about me and my political sojourn. My future remains very green.
