Two persons were feared dead at Waters side part of Aba on Tuesday, after a 40-feet container fell down from a truck and crushed some cars and tricycles (Keke NAPEP). The incident which happened at about 9:am, was said to have happened when the driver of the truck lost control on the Ogbo Hill bridge. The container, said to be carrying some bale of cloths, was not tied to the truck, as at the time of the accident.
It was gathered that three tricycles and a Sports Utility Vehicle were crushed by the fallen container, with two persons reportedly dying in scene while a couple riding in their SUV, though still breathing, were trapped by the container under it. The accident is coming two years after a fatal accident happened on the same scene. Sympathizers who thronged the Ogbo Hill area on Tuesday morning, wept uncontrollably on seeing the lifeless body of an unidentified male victim crushed by the heavy container. Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Abia State Command, Abia State Command of the Nigerian Police Force and the Abia State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) were yet to release any official statement on the Aba accident, as at the time of this report.
