Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has labelled those who accuse his government of not paying salaries as thieves.
Uzodimma made the assertion, Saturday, in Omuma, Oru East L.G.A., during a grand reception in his honour organized by the Oru nation.
He accused the opposition parties in the state of being behind the propaganda.
The governor reemphasized that his government embarked on changing salary payment system of the state from the analog to digital method, a process he said takes between seven to eight months to complete, and during which salaries were not supposed to be steady.
In what appeared like a threat on the labour leaders in the state, Uzodimma urged those who are retired civil servants but still serving as labour leaders to run away after the yuletide, adding that he is coming with full force in the new year.
He accused them of being card carrying members of various opposition political parties in the state.
“I am therefore saying that all those labour leaders who are retired should go home and receive their pensions as retired people, while those who are still serving should be elected as leaders of the union”, he stated.
Uzodimma also warned doctors in government owned hospitals who are not ready to play by the rules to find their ways out, as he will recruit new and younger doctors who will be ready to go by the rules.
He promised to revamp most of the industries built by late Sam Mbakwe to cushion the challenge of unemployment in the state, disclosing that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an intervention fund for the revamping of those industries in the state.
He promised to pay the new minimum wage from January 2020, saying it should not be used as a reason by the labour leaders to call out workers for strike.
Uzodimma solicited the support of the stakeholders and entire citizens of Oru nation.
Different leaders of Oru nation who spoke at the event, described Uzodimma as an illustrious son of the nation who started early to show his leadership ingenuity, describing him as tested and trusted achiever who will do wonderful things for the state.
