As the military carnage heightens at Orlu, a group, Igbo National Council (INC) Worldwide, has advised the Imo State government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma, to ask the military to immediately leave the area before the bloodbath degenerates.
INC, in a press statement signed and made available to the press by its President General, Chilos Godsent, said “Igbo National Council Worldwide has keenly observed the tempo of the joint military campaign going on at Orlu local government area of Imo State, which has lingered and has claimed many lives”.
The group was bitter that the military was said to be revenging the death of their comrade who was allegedly killed by members of the Eastern Security Network.
The group called on Uzodimma to quickly intervene so as to halt the wanton destruction of lives and properties at the area.
According to the group, “it may not be in the best interest of the Imo State and the Federal Government to militarize any part of the Igbo Nation in disguise of fighting Pro-Biafra agitators.
“We note that the Nigeria Police have the capacity to tackle criminality in any part of Nigeria if they are well mobilized and given free hand to operate.
“We urge the Federal Government to immediately redeploy the military ravaging Imo communities and send them to the various highways where the Fulani Herdsmen are presently terrorizing, raping and killing innocent people”, the statement concluded.
