The acting National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, has taken a swipe on Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, saying his recent unguarded utterances are inimical to the political development of Igbo land.
To this end, Odefa called on Umahi to move on and play his politics with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and stop witch-hunting his perceived opponents who are mostly Ebonyi State political leaders
In a press conference at the PDP zonal secretariat, Enugu, Odefa assured that PDP would deploy every legal means to protect the party from interlopers.
The PDP boss alleged that the governor has marked some PDP leaders in the state foe witch-hunt.
He wondered why the governor who is the chief security officer of the state should be threatening war against citizens of the state.
Odefa said Umahi and his family until he ran to APC had started attacking PDP stakeholders in Ebonyi State whereas he is the major beneficiaries of PDP in the state.
“It is a common knowledge that Governor Umahi and his family remain the major beneficiaries of the support of the PDP and these same PDP leaders whom he has suddenly branded promoters of cultists in Ebonyi; each of these leaders played prominent roles in making Umahi a successful politician and Governor of Ebonyi State.
“For the records, Chief Umahi until he jumped ship to the APC became everything he is in Ebonyi cum Nigeria politics in PDP, while his two brothers, Mr. Austin Umahi and Maxwell Umahi were Zonal Chairman and Deputy State Chairman of the PDP, respectively. Under the PDP Federal Government, Gen. Obi Umahi enjoyed accelerated promotion and appointment in the Nigeria Army”, he stated.
He questioned the unfounded allegations Umahi levelled against the political leaders in the state, saying, ‘at what point did he realize I, Chief Ali Odefa and other leaders he so maligned with his baseless allegation, were promoters of IPOB and cultists?’
