Women have been charged to continue to support men solidly by being submissive, respectful, cordial to them with a view to edifying the society and enhancing wealth, comfort, good living and security.
This charge was given by the National President, StandUp For Women (SWS), Lib. Deborah Ijadele- Adetona Esq, during the inauguration ceremony of SWS, Imo State chapter, held at the Haven Suit Hotel, Owerri, last week.
The President, while reminding the women of the need to remain united, committed, work maximally to strengthen unity, peace, economic prosperity and comfort in their families, communities and society, told women to see men as small gods and heads of the family even as she advised the executive members of SWS to work together to move the society forward to achieve a common goal.
In a lecture titled “Bridge Building in a Technological and Knowledge Driven Global Economy”, Director, Nigeria Israeli Center for Management Studies, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Mrs Ihuoma Asiabaka, indulged females to build love, unity and water the ground to accommodate even the vulnerable women.
“Building Bridges requires departure from the old ways of doing things. It is impossible to build bridges without designing a culture of planned change. We must change the way we raise our children at the family, community, educational level. We must reevaluate our value system. We have to recreate the environment to accommodate present day challenges”.
In his goodwill message, Vice Chancellor, Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University Ogboko, Prof. I.N.S Dozie, represented by Dr Chinonso Dozie enjoined the women to be be courageous, brave and committed in to meeting their needs or welfare in the society.
In her address, the Chairperson, SWS, Imo State chapter, Lib. Meg Praise Odinakachi Iheonu, who welcomed all to the inaugural ceremony, stressed that the society is “primarily concerned with eradicating violence against women and girls and to promote their fundamental rights”.
The executive members in their oath of allegiance performed by Barr. Chinonye Uche, vowed that they would obey the rules and regulations of the society to move forward.
