Unidentified driver of a Toyota Sienna Space wagon car with registration number LSR 748 GN on Tuesday, , knocked down a male child.

 

The accident occured at sbout 2pm along Ihiala road opposite Starch mill ULI in Ihiala, Local Government Area, Anambra state while the child was crossing the road.

 

News Echo gathered from an eyewitness that the crash was as a result of speeding and loss of control.

 

Confirming the report, Sector Public Education Officer of the federal Road Service Corps, SRC Florence N Edor, said that the report reaching the state Command states that;

 

“Two (2) persons were involved in the crash comprising of one male adult and ond male child.

 

The male child was taken to God’s Favour Specialist Hospital by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala command and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. His body has been deposited at the mortuary”.

 

Sector Commander Corps Commander Andrew A Kumapayi, while condoling with the deceased’s family warned motorist to avoid speeding especially in built up areas.

 

He also advised they should limit their speed to prevent road traffic crashes which are avoidable while urging them to drive safe and stay safe during this Christmas and New Year celebrations.
