..calls for disciplinary action if he fails to produce
Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organization (SAUGCO), has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji for jeopardising the democractic principles of the rule of law.
They also urge INEC to caution Dr. Nwachukwu Orji, to release Certificed True Copies (CTC) of INEC documents used during the Anambra 2021 election to Senator Andy Uba as requested, hence, called for a disciplinary action if he refused to comply.
SAUGCO disclosed this in a press statement signed and made available to News Echo through the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organization (SAUGCO), Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia on Monday.
According to the statement “The Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organization (SAUGCO) has alerted Nigerians of the plot by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji to heighten tension, trigger crisis, instigate violence and derail democratic practice and peaceful co-existence in Anambra State, with his deliberate attempt to stand against the lawful conduct and democratic processes as it relates to releasing Certified True Copies (CTC) of INEC materials as demanded for by Senator Andy Uba, in line with the electoral processes”.
“SAUGCO further informed Nigerians of the renewed plots by the Anambra State INEC REC, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji to deny our candidate, Senator Andy Uba INEC CTC, which he requested for through a letter dated November 10th, 2021 and filed on November 11th 2021 for his tribunal matter.
“SAUGCO describes the actions of Anambra State REC, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji as shocking, irresponsible, completely unjustified and must not be swept under the carpet. INEC as an entity must rescue itself from the efforts of Nwachukwu Orji whose focus is to damage the reputation of the INEC as an institution for his selfish interest”.
The statement further queried, “why is INEC REC refusing to allow the release of CTC to a candidate in an election after he has applied for same? What is REC trying to cover?
There have been allegations of how the REC collaborated with the Obiano led Anambra State Government and APGA to manipulate the November 2021 governorship election that produced the APGA candidate as the governor-elect.
“Nwachukwu Orji’s attempt to sabotage our candidate’s resolve to approach tribunal on Anambra governorship election proves that he is struggling to cover the fraud he supervised, if not, there is nowhere in the history of governorship election in Nigeria that a REC played such dangerous game against the established procedure of the law that is governing our electoral processes, like Nwachukwu Orji is currently doing in the case of Anambra governorship election”.
In the light of the foregoing, SAUGCO demands that INEC as an institution should intervene within the next 12hours and release CTC to Andy Ubah against REC’s anti democratic games.
*SAUGCO calls on Nigerians to stand in the defence of our democracy by continuing in their demand that the REC, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji not only releases CTC to Andy Uba today, but face disciplinary action for his attempt in derailing democracy.
