A Ponzi company known as Goldman Horizone Profit Company ltd, with offices in parts of Abia State has crashed, leaving in its trail, hundreds of victims.
The company, which claimed that it specialised in Bitcoin crypto currency trading, had in the last three months, been growing in customer base as more customers continued to register with it, with the offer of 20% profit or more paid on weekly basis to every active customer.
But the bubble burst on Monday, 28 September as the customers of Goldman
Horizone could not log into the Ponzi Company’s online platform to transact business as usual.
The situation forced the customers to rush to the company’s offices at no 5 Warri street and 2 Aba road, all in Umuahia with the hope of cashing out on their investment.
But on reaching the offices, they discovered that the chief promoters had fled, switching off their phones.
The infuriated customers destroyed the company’s offices at 5 Warri street but an anti riot team of Policemen from the Abia State Police Command.
extending their rage to the branch office of the Ponzi company at number 2 Aba road.
This is even as customers of the company from the university town of Umudike trooped into Umuahia, with the hope of recovering their money.
It was also a day of weeping as some victims narrated how they lost their life earnings to the company, which is allegedly owned by An Edo State businessman.
One of the victims who have his name as Fred, confessed that he invested N500,000 on Friday, 25th September with the hope of reaping between N600 and N700,000.
But another ‘investor’ who refused to disclose his name said he collected his own money last week Thursday and was preparing to invest again on Thursday (this week). Efforts made to take photographs of the tumultuous crowd of victims were rebuffed as anti riot policemen threatened to shoot anyone who took a photo shot.
Reacting to this development, a retired banker, Mr Ignatius Ifediba blamed it on greed and ignorance, noting that Nigerians were yet to learn from the lessons of infamous MMM of 2015/2016.
