A commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Okechukwu Uzogwu, who hails from Ubaraekwe community, Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, has demanded N200 million compensation from the Nigeria Police, for allegedly damaging one of his kidneys with bullet.

Uzogwu made the demand when he testified before Rtd. Justice Florence Duruoha- Igwe led Judicial Commission of Inquiry Into Police Brutality and Related Extra Judicial Killings sitting in Owerri, on Wednesday.

The victim, who said that he cannot stand for an hour due to the removal of one of his condemned kidneys, lamented that life has become difficult for him and his family.

However, Mr. Promise Uzosike, a motorcyclist and an indigene of Ehime Mbano, who stood for the petitioner due to weakness, told the panel that Uzogwu was shot by the police at Amakohia, along Owerri-Orlu road sometime in 2015, which affected one of his kidneys.

The matter was adjourned to 5th January, 2021 for defence, having adopted his petition as his evidence before the panel.
About 14 petitions were heard as the panel adjourned other matters to 12th, 13th, 15th, 19th January, 2021 for hearing and defence.
