The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has vowed that it will produce quality, humane and godly candidate to be able to eject Senator Hope Uzodimma from the Imo State Government House Seat Owerri in the next governorship election.
The party made the vow through the former member who represented Nwangele/Nkwerre/Isu/Njaba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, while speaking with journalists at All Seasons Hotel, Owerri, last week, during the Birthday Celebration of Prof. Protus Nathan Uzoma.
He was very sure that the PDP will win the next Imo State governorship election because of its formidability, solid structure, unity, zeal, determination for improved good governance and economic prosperity, comfort and peace, saying though conflict may occur, but settlement becomes more easier, without any external interference.
“We have held our convention with no rancor or court litigation. We will have best choices as regards the governorship seat in Imo State Douglas House in the next governorship election. PDP is well positioned to win the next governorship election hence organized structure. It is easier to settle conflicts as they were without external interference”, he added.
Stressing that the 2023 will be a good election year in the state, a PDP chieftain in Ohaji/Egbema and a member, Samdaddy Divine Mandate, Chief Godwin Achonwa, mentioned that the PDP is moving stronger especially at his area, pushing to reclaim power from the APC, describing the celebrant, Uzoma, as a man of letters, “who is well behaved”.
While glorifying God for keeping him despite the politically induced challenges, travails he experienced in the hands of security personnel particularly the police, the celebrant, Prof Protus Nathan Uzoma, said he was “messed up, incarcerated, beaten up last year, but God has sustained me for a purpose to which I’m very grateful to Him”.
Regretting how he suffered incarnation in police cells, in the dark dirty room, without no hope of seeing the light of the universe, Uzoma called for the sanitation of the society and overhaul of the Prisons, Cells, Awaiting Trial Cells, with speedy dispensation of justice, so that inmates with less offences or not at all would be freed.
He told the President and the Governors to always pardon prisoners through their prerogative of mercies as the constitution stipulates, regretting that many innocent prisoners have died carelessly with government or prisons authority making no effort to reform the prisons system to lessen their suffering.
