The Nigerian Police Force has announced the deployment of a new Commissioner of Police to the Anambra state in the person of Mr. Chris Owolabi, to replace Mr. Monday Bala Kuryas.
This is in reaction to the huge insecurity level in the state that has resulted to loss of high number of lives and properties which prompted the force command to overhaul the Police architecture of the South East and South South Geo-Political zones.
A press statement signed and made available to the press by the force Public Relations Officers, force headquarters, CP Frank Mba said: “The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the posting of CP Christopher A. Owolabi as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of Anambra State Police Command. The deployment of the new CP is part of the ongoing efforts at re-ordering, overhauling and strengthening the security and policing architecture in Anambra State and other States of the South-East and South-South geo-political zones of the country”.
Prior to his deployment Mr. Chris Owolabi was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration in the Anambra State Police Command while the Former Commissioner of Police Monday Bala Kuryas has been redeployed to the Anti-Fraud Section of the Force Headquarters Annex Lagos.
Also, the statements further reads that “the IGP has ordered the posting of other strategic and tactical commanders within the zones. A total of two (2) Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), fourteen (14) Assistant Commissioners of Police and other mid-level officers were affected”.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police charged the new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State to take adequate measures in consolidating and improving on the gains of his predecessor and charged the CP to rejig the security apparatus of the state, harness the full potential of the command.
