The Abia State Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has assured civil servants in the State that the Alex Otti- led administration in the State would clear seven years leave allowances owed to civil servants.

Engr. Emetu who announced this during a maiden meeting he held with Management and Staff of his office at Government House Umuahia, reiterated that as a listening and responsive leader, Dr. Otti under the labour party is ready to change the narrative by tackling the decay that had eat deep into the fabrics of the State work force and resources of the State.

The Deputy Governor warned that while incompetence of any guise will not be tolerated, government sole responsibility will be to represent the good people of Abia State and ensure that a new phase of Abia where everyone will be proud of is born rather than witch hunting any individual.

He urged heads of various departments to show high level of capacity and character in the office they are occupying while staff should change their poor attitude towards work by reporting to their duty and living up to government’s expectations.

Engineer Emetu said the present administration will handle every challenge before it, to ensure that they deliver on the campaign promises the Labour Party has marshalled out for Abians and reassured staff of his office that he will relate to his boss all the problems confronting them to ensure they move seamlessly.

In their remarks on behalf of staff, the Director of Administration, Mr. Iyke Ogbonna and the Director of Accounts, Elder Chiemela Ochoma while welcoming the new Deputy Governor to the office listed the challenges confronting the office to include scarcity of funds, logistics among others expressed readiness to work with him by putting their best to reposition Abia State into the part of greatness. Heads of various departments were present during the meeting.
