The crisis in the All Progressives Congress Imo state deepened with after the conduct of the bye-election to chose who flies the party’s flag in the 31st October election.
This followed the emergence of two candidates from the different factions of the party. At the end of the election which was violent free the Publicity Secretaries of the factional groups released two results sheets.
The election took place in the 64 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wards of the 6 local governments in the zone. According to the release by Cajetan Duke, the Director of APC Media Centre, “Ibezim who pulled a total of 13, 637 votes to emerge victorious ahead of other aspirants in a keenly contested and transparent primaries conducted by APC Primary Election Committee led by Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bisuriu. “Announcing the result at Okigwe Local Government headquarters, before the presence of staff of Independent National Electoral Commission and other relevant security agencies, Senator Basuriu described the exercise as most transparent, peaceful and orderly.”
In another development, Jones FCC Onwuasonya the State Publicity Secretary of the factional group led by Hon Dan Nwafor, in his release indicated that “the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress wishes to inform the general public that Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ararume has emerged the candidate of the Party at the just concluded Direct Primaries of the Party.
