Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has hailed the choice of Prof George Obiozor as the consensus candidate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Imo State chapter for the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide.
The governor expressed his feelings when the committee for the selection of candidate for the plum position of the apex Igbo socio political organization, led by Chief E.C Iwuanyanwu came to present Prof. George Obiozor to him as the consensus candidate selected by the committee for Imo State.
While nothing that Igbo nation needs high level of diplomacy to regain its pride of place in the Nigerian project, Uzodimma described Prof. Obiozor as one of the best diplomats worldwide and advised other Imolites to throw their weight behind him.
He said it was the turn of Imo State to produce the next President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and described Prof. George Obiozor as a man of impeccable character, saying he is eminently qualified for the office.
“The need for a round peg in a round hole, with respect to the presidency of Ohanaeze Ndigbo cannot be more urgent for our generation than it is today”.
The Chairman of the committee, Engr E.C Iwuanyanwu had while presenting the anointed candidate, said it was a result of painstaking search that took the committee one month.
He said Obiozor met all criteria and qualities mapped out for the consensus candidate of Imo State chapter who will be presented for the President General position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
