The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has warned any Igbo man or woman against accepting the vice-presidential slot of any political party ahead of the 2023 general elections, saying that for the sake of equity, every political party should zone their presidential slots to the Southeast.

The group, in a statement signed by its president, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the secretary-general, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, which was made available to News Echo over the weekend, specifically warned the Peoples’ Democratic Party against such purported plot. It was gathered that the group’s reaction was sequel to an alleged plot by the PDP to field former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar for the 2023 presidential election.

Ohanaeze youths further threatened to ex-communicate any person from Igbo land that accepted the vice-presidential ticket of any political party. In their words, “No Igbo politician should accept a vice-presidential ticket from any party. Any Igbo man or woman who grovels to a vice-presidential ticket should consider political social distancing from Igbo land.”
