The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Ohaji/ Egbema State Constituency in 2023 election, Engr. Hon. Onyiriuka Stanley, has promised that if elected he will create employment for the people through agribusiness in order to reduce poverty, suffering and
insecurity, saying agriculture is very lucrative and should be prioritised by all persons.

He gave the assurance while addressing the people of Ohaji/Egbema who felicitated with him on his birthday anniversary celebration held at Royal Grill Event Center, Owerri, last week.

He disclosed that he is an agribusinessman who has trained a lot of persons especially those from Ohaji/Egbema in agribusiness who are doing well today and fending properly for themselves and families, affirming that there is need to “diversify the economy of the locality as oil will one day fade away. Hence, let us not depend wholly on oil. Oil politics has a lot of negative challenges, but there is great prosperity in agriculture. Farming is lucrative. I’m going to engage our youths on meaningful ventures particularly on agribusiness to cushion poverty, suffering and violence which come as a result of no payable or meaningful employment”.

Noting that his motivation for seeking for the Assembly Seat is to have a more viable platform where he can effectively meet social, political and economic interests of the people, Onyiriuka mentioned that he has the requisite experience having been tested and trusted in politics, governance, security, activism, education and entrepreneurship like agribusiness to advance the course of the people who he said are suffering adversely given to misplacement of priorities by those who control the affairs of the locality, saying he will cement constituency briefing to give more room to listen to the people as to know their requests and thereby present them accordingly to the house for positive attention and consideration.

“We will unite our people for greater development, to always speak with one voice. So, my brothers and sisters, with my exposure in all aspects of life coupled with experience I garnered so far while I was serving the people of Ohaji/Egbema as Coordinator, Niger Delta Security Network, as Secretary to the Local Government Council and as Councillor for Assa/Obile Ward, I will bring prosperity to our people to make our place more better by changing the narratives”, he assured.

On effective security, Onyiriuka told government to adopt Orthodox Method of Security in Imo State by using well trained, sound educated indigenous people to secure their areas, stressing that “when I efficiently coordinated Niger Delta Security Network was when I knew that there was need for Orthodox Security System in each of the LGA in Imo State especially Ohaji/Egbema who is prone to crisis because where there is oil, there is tendency that anything can happen at any time and the security anybody, village, community, locality can give to themselves is the one they can provide. If young men, able-bodied men can be trained on Orthodox Security, I think Ohaji/Egbema can be the most peaceful area in Imo State and beyond”.

Emphasising that “security is the first thing we should talk about to secure the oil rich region with a view to attracting investors who are willing, ready to invest in our area, employ our people massively with good pay”, Onyiriuka believes that “restiveness which unemployment causes would have been minimally reduced. In our GMoU which I know is well packaged with most oil companies our area would be critically developed if it is well enforced…We will unite our people, to speak with one voice, for solid development through infrastructures, education, commerce and industry”.

However, Onyiriuka has appealed for massive and solid support of the people of Ohaji/Egbema to his political aspiration to enable him be at the house in 2023 to consolidate good representation, vowing never to disappoint them, but to perform excellently for even peace, prosperity, social comfort and security.

Earlier, Onyiriuka assured Kings and Queens of Awarra Court Area who paid him a courtesy visit of his massive support to their reality show program to be held soon so that they will be able to achieve their dreams of couching their fellow youths on how to imbibe good skills that can help them become more useful, charging them to base the reality show on merit to get the best of themselves to move forward.
