The Caretaker Committee Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Imo State chapter, Barr Comr Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka, has charged youths to embrace resourcefulness, fear God and obey constituted authority, help their parents and guardians in order to be wealthy and successful in life for society edification.

He gave the charge while presenting an inaugural speech during the occasion of the Caretaker Committee of the National Council of Nigeria held at the Pastoral Center Owerri last week.

Udoka stated that youths who are catalysts for development to any society that values their worth and invest hugely in their projects should be roundly employed and empowered by government and other well to do individuals including elected or appointed politicians and the church, saying such would bring peace and orderliness in the state, regretting that vice as being experienced today is as the result of many young people being idle and doing nothing.

“Since youths are catalysts for positive change of the society, NYCN shall not relent to do its best to work with government and other well to do individuals to create more employment opportunities for our youths to curb youth restiveness, violence, insecurity and hunger which debilitate the society. Because when the youth are meaningfully engaged vice will reduce. For it is said that an idle mind is devil’s workshop”, he stressed.

The youth leader emphasised that “Imo youths are wise, loving, talented, intelligent, peaceful, godly and hardworking, no doubt. Hence they should be duly employed or positively engaged. I urge you all to always eschew any act that may mar our future. Our future is bright and must not be punctured with vice or quick money syndrome”.

“As the umbrella youth body in the state, we are well positioned to work and support the Imo State government and the Shared Prosperity administration championed by Governor Hope Uzodimma. We support every political party in Imo State just as we pledge to work with both public and private organizations, the church, school, market associations among others with the mandate to elevating the youth and making life more bearable for all persons across board”, Udoka reiterated.

Calling on all “aggrieved persons of the council to sheath their sword, embrace peace, work and cooperate with us as well soar higher, we thank all persons who have come to grace this auspicious occasion. May God replenish us all and lead us peacefully and safely to our various homes and destinations”, promised that his leadership will bring more goodies for the council as it contributes to the progress of the society.

Handing over the mantle of the council leadership to the Chairman, immediate past Imo State chapter Chairman of NYCN, Comr Chukwuemeka Isidore, said succession is key to good leadership, as he urged the council to always give credence to the newly constituted executive. He said he will continue to do his best to project the council positively.

In his presidential address, National President of NYCN expressed delight over the colourful event, as he promised to work with the executive, as he charged members to remain resolute in the council. “I wish the new executive well. We have been demonstrating capacity and let us keep growing”.

Swearing in the executive members, the National President of the council, Amb Sekubo Sara’ Igbe Sekubo, who was represented by the Vice President of the South East, Amb Smart Uwakwem, urged the executive to work in line with the dictates of the council to move forward.

Just as the South East representative in the Advisory Council, Amb Chinyere Manukwem and the council Ambassador, Amb Uzoma Placid Nwachukwu, enjoined the youth to be committed and united to gain more goodies.
The council bestowed award to deserving persons across the region.
