According to Soji Oye, National Judicial Council (NJC) head of information, Boloukuoromo Ugo, Justice of the Court of Appeal, has not revoked his membership on the presidential election petition court.
According to Umar Sani, a Twitter user, Ugo submitted his resignation after citing “demands to kneecap democracy.”
According to Sani, the judge indicated in his letter that he was urged to “cripple the independence of the judiciary” by deciding in favour of a political candidate suspected to be President Bola Tinubu.
“Justice Ugo’s resignation has caused a serious uproar and a setback to the activities of the presidential election petition court,” Sani said.
Oye, though, condemned the charges as “falsehood from the pit of hell” in an interview on Thursday.
Ugo’s claimed resignation comes only 48 hours after Jackson Ude, a Twitter user, stated that the president met with Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Olukayode Ariwoola about the outcome of the presidential election case.
Ude claimed that Tinubu was advised by the CJN to prepare for a rerun of the election.
He stated that the charges should be ignored, adding that the goal is to distract Nigerians and set the tone for a narrative if the court’s decision does not benefit the rumour peddlers.
The presidential election petition court, according to Oye, will publish an official statement to resolve the problems.When questioned, presidential tribunal secretary Josephine Ekperobe stated that the news is “fake.”
She said she spent time with the judge yesterday and that as of Thursday, she is yet to be informed of the judge’s purported resignation.
The Supreme Court’s spokesman, Festus Akande, claimed there was “no iota of truth” in the assertion.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) also refuted Ude’s claim.
