The Traditional ruler of Amanator Okporo, in Orlu local government area of Imo State, Eze VNC Ibenye Ugbala, has expressed optimism that Nigeria stands to benefit immensely from the administration of President Joe Biden of United States of America
The Eze Ugo IV made the prediction in a telephone chat with News Echo correspondent in which he commented on key contemporary issues.
He hinged part of his optimism on the viral video of Biden where he was personally thanking a Nigerian family for their support. He also pointed at the appointment of Nigerians into prominent positions in the new American administration as reasons for his optimism.
“A huge opportunity beckons with the Biden administration. This is another incredible opportunity to change the negative narratives about Nigerians in the Diaspora”.
The Royal Father who was a former Secretary to the Imo State Government, further posited that with the election of Nigerian-Americans like Esther Agbaje and Oye Owolewa as democrats in the Minnesota legislature and US House of Representatives respectively, as well as the appointments of Miss Osaremen Okolo as Biden’s Covid 19 Policy Advisor and that of Mr Adewale Adeyemi as Deputy Secretary of Treasury, the future was very promising for Nigeria’s international image.
He congratulated the Hope Uzodimma administration in Imo state for clocking one year in office, and making remarkable achievements in infrastructural rehabilitation and reconstruction, particularly on roads and urban renewal.
He applauded the construction of the over 30 feet Chukwuma Nwoha underground drainage tunnel to permanently address the flood menace in Imo, a challenge he noted that past governments were unable to overcome.
