The new newly sworn-in Chairman of Umuahia South LGA of Abia State, Mr Humphrey Benson has attributed his victory in the just-concluded polls as a mark of his closeness to the ordinary people.
This is even as he has promised to transform all parts of the local government, even with a desire to carry the losers along.
Humphrey made the promises in Umuahia after his swearing-in by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
He praised Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for embarking on Umuopara ring road project which he said, would tremendously lift the people of economically, adding that he (Benson) also had started some road reconstruction projects in his Ehume community, even before vying for LGA polls.
The local government Chairman described his victory as the wish of the people emphasising that he would assemble a team of professionals in Umuahia South with the sole focus on harnessing the abundant human and natural resources in the LGA.
He also listed education, employment of the youths as well as development of agricultural opportunities as his other areas of focus.
He assured all clans that make up Umuahia South of equal representation, while commending Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for conducting local government elections, the second in his administration
