National Association of Women Journalists Zone C has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma to recall her Imo Chairperson, Barr.Vivian Ottih who has been serving indefinite suspension since early this year.
The request was contained in a Communiqué issued by the group after its zonal meeting which held at Awka, the Anambra State capital last weekend.
It would be recalled that Ottih, who works in the Imo Broadcasting Corporation was suspended indefinitely by the corporation’s management following what they called breach of civil service rules. The lawyer journalist was alleged to have made offensive comments against her employer after she posted a social media message lamenting the plight of her unpaid colleagues.
The Communiqué congratulated all its members who emerged winners at the just concluded National Delegates conference held in Minna Niger state as well as the newly elected Exco of Anambra state NAWOJ.
While it sued for co-operation among its members for a virile journalism practice in the nation, it spared moments to condemn the wanton killing of Borno farmers and other killings of people across the country. Consequently it called for an upgrade in the security system of the country.
Examining the state of the nation further, the group called for the immediate suspension of the long ASUU strike, frowned at the hike in fuel pump prices in the country and decried the none payment of salaries and pensions in some states.
It also raised worries over moral decadence and indecent dressing among women and called on states yet to pass the VAPP Bill to do so without more delay.
Finally, it commended Anambra state government for its support for NAWOJ and enjoined other states governors to extend their hands of goodwill to the Association.
