48-year-old Gregory Enwaeso of Egbengwu village, Nimo in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State has allegedly cut off his own son, Abuchi Enweaso’s fingers for fleeing with his N150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira).
News Echo correspondent gathered, based on a police report on Saturday, October 17 that the suspect, Mr Gregory connived with his younger son, Chinonso Enwaeso aged 20 years, and lured Abuchi into a bush path where they tied him before chopping off his fingers after which they locked him up in one of the rooms for four weeks.
Confirming the incident, SP Haruna Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, said; “On the 15/10/2020, at about 1:pm, Police operatives attached to Nimo Division in collaboration with local vigilante group arrested one Gregory Enwaeso aged 48 years of Egbengwu village, Nimo in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State”.
“Suspect allegedly conspired with his son, one Chinonso Enwaeso aged 20 years of same address (also arrested) and chopped off all the fingers of his biological son, one Abuchi Enwaeso aged 22years of same address, using a machete.
“The suspects equally chained the victim and abandoned him for four weeks, leaving him in severe pain.
“Meanwhile, police detectives visited the scene of the crime, took pictures of the victim and rushed him to General hospital Enugu-ukwu for medical attention.
“Consequently, the machete allegedly used in perpetrating the act was recovered as exhibit and suspects who voluntarily confessed to the dastardly act claimed that the victim allegedly absconded with the sum of N150,000 proceeds realized by the father, after throwing a party, following a breakthrough in his business.
“The Commissioner of Police, (CP) John B. Abang, has ordered for the case to be transferred to the state CID Awka for discreet investigation”.
