The Federal Government of Nigeria has set up a national summit on Cassava billed for this week.
The national summit is designed to attract ambassadors of countries that require Cassava for export.
News Echo Correspondent reports that the National Programme Coordinator, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Garba Bala made this known during the visit to Anambra State.

According to Mr. Bala, the agency has successfully concluded his three days working visit to Anambra State with the inauguration of cassava bulky center with Solar powered bore hole at Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area and two other Solar powered bore holes at Ochuche and Ossomala communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Inaugurating the facilities, Mr. Bala tasked the beneficiaries to ensure that women and youths are majorly involved in all the activities at the various centres to drive home the major target of the programme.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Stephanie Keri-Uzor urged the beneficiaries to take absolute ownership of the facilities, protect and maintain same to better their living standards.
The State Programme Coordinator, FG/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha, equally assured full completion and equipping of all the processing centres noting that their appropriate usage, management and security will pave way for more interventions.

However, the Transition Committee chairman, Ihiala Local Government Area, Sir Jude Obi, while appreciating the synergy between Anambra State and the Federal Government in improving agriculture, requested for provision of the Solar panels, which according to him, will nip in the bud, issue of fuel and the environmental hazards associated with power generators.

Meanwhile, Chief Simeon Ohajianya, who represented Igwe Uli-in-Council, Igwe Ochuche community, represented by Ajie Francis Otogbolu and Igwe Victor Awogu of Ossomala community, represented by the President General, Sir John Nwadialor, while expressing joy over the facilities, appealed for more interventions.
