…condemns re-emergence of kidnapping
National Link chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Anambra state council has called on the state government to intervene in the urgent fix up of access roads in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
The chapel also lamented on the resurgence of kidnapping in the area while urging the security operatives to be more proactive in fighting crimes.
This was made known in a communique issued after it’s monthly meeting which was held on wednesday at the head office in Nnewi. They however stressed that the poor state of roads in Nnewi have affected the business of which Nnewi town is known for.
According to the chapel, “we condemned the total neglect of all the roads, in Nnewi North LGA, inclusive are all the federal,state and local government roads in Nnewi North LGA. The chapel further stressed that the poor state of roads in Nnewi have affected the business of which Nnewi town is known for, which has brought back hold ups, time wastage on the roads”.
“The chapel however commended individuals who have been sand filling the numerous potholes in the city. While calling on the state government, federal government and all relevant agencies saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the road infrastructure to come to the aid of the industrial town, so that the city can still maintain its status as the Japan of Africa for which it’s known for”.
“On insecurity the chapel also condemned in strong terms the resurgence of kidnapping in Nnewi and it’s environs, which also have affected business and the psyche of the people living in the industrial city”.
The chapel therefore challenged the security agencies to rise to the occasion in combating crime and criminal behavior in Nnewi.
