The Anambra State Sector Commander, Andrew A Kumapayi has warned motorists to avoid excessive speeding because it is usually the major cause of road traffic crashes.
He stated this when on Wednesday, a yet to be identified man was knocked down and killed by a hit and run driver at St. Anthony Junction, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State. Kumapayi equally warned pedestrians to always watch before crossing major roads and that they should use provided pedestrian bridges when crossing.

The Public Education Officer of FRSC in the state, Florence N. Edor (SRC) made the news of the development public in a press statement. “Unidentified driver of unknown vehicle knocked down yet to be identified male adult and sped off. It was a case of hit and run.” Edor said.
She said that eyewitness account indicated that the crash was due to excessive speeding which led to loss of control and knocking down of yet to be identified male adult. The male adult victim according to her was rushed to Osungwu hospital by FRSC rescue team from Ihiala command and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty and his body deposited at the morgue.
