The remains of the Ebonyi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth leader, late Comrade Ogochukwu David Elem has been committed to mother earth at his country home Ebiaji Noyo, Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State.
There was an outpour of tears from all quarters of the burial venue with people saddened by the death. Men and women from all walks of life gathered in anguish, pains and in sorrow. Late Ogochukwu Elem was one of the occupants that died while travelling to Ikwo when their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a mining pit at Enyigba in Abakaliki LGA.
Speaking during the funeral ceremony, Governor David Umahi who lamented the untimely demise of Ogochukwu Elem described his death as very disheartening and painful.
He advised people to always live a righteous life, as nobody knows the time or how one would die, as it was appointed unto man, once to die and after that judgment. Umahi who maintained that what matters most was the legacies left behind and not how long one lived, noted that Ogochukwu Elem during his lifetime lived for others.
He said,” By the testimonies of people today, it shows that this young man, not minding the short period he lived on earth, has left good legacies that would sustain the family”. Umahi further noted that as APC youth leader, Ogochukwu Elem was never found wanting in his assigned duties, as he defended the party and the government. He donated two brand new Toyota Camry vehicles, one for the wife, to be used in carrying the children and the other for the Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Stephen Edozie Elem, the brother to late Ogochukwu Elem, in replacement of his damaged car that was used by the APC youth leader.
The governor, also offered automatic employment to Ogochukwu’s wife, Mrs. Onyinyechi Ogochukwu Elem and in addition, presented a cheque of N5 million naira to open account for the educational upbringing of the children of late Ogochukwu and prayed God to sustain the family.
The member, Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Comrade, Chinedu Ogah, who could not hold his tears during his oration, said the death of his former Chief of staff and APC youth leader, Ogochukwu Elem was very devastating, as he was a dedicated and trustworthy loyal aid to him.
Ebonyi state APC Caretaker chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha in his tribute described late Ogochukwu Elem, the APC youth leader as a consummate politician and an activist who was always willing to show sacrifice for the welfare of others.
