All is now set for the maiden public lecture and award ceremony being organised by Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP).
A statement signed by chairman of the planning committee, Comrade Eze Adiuku, noted that the ceremony will take place on Friday 18th December, 2020 at the Paragon International Hotel, Eke Nguru in Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State, under the chairmanship of Prince Emeka Anyanwu.
He disclosed that the event with the theme: ‘Time To Wake Up’, is a wake up call to Mbaise people both at home and in the diaspora to come together to rub minds on the past and present challenges of the people in order to take proactive steps to face the future.
According to Adiuku who is also the Assistant Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council; renowned academic and experienced journalist, Prof Uzodinma T. Nwala and Mr. Ori Martin, respectively, will deliver lectures at the event.
Some of those to be honoured include Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Rt. Rev. Chamberlain Ogunedo of Mbaise Anglican Diocese, US-based Prof Eddie Oparaoji and Managing Director of Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Commission, Engr. Gerald Okechukwu Osuagwu among others.
Some veteran journalists from Mbaise will also be specially honoured at the event.
They are: Joe Ehioma, John Agbakwuru, Nnamdi Nwigwe, Mahakwe Ike, Chidi Madu, Iheanyi Ochor, Ben Osuagwu, Joe Nwachukwu, Alex Nwahiri, Onyebuchi Onyikegbulem and Ndudi Nnadi.
The Christian Nwokocha led Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals is the umbrella association of Mbaise journalists and media professionals.
