Mass defection hits Abia APGA as ex-candidates, LGA executives declare for APC

The politics ahead of next general elections in Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, have continued to gather momuetum, as the Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) House of Representative Candidate for the federal constituency during 2019 poll, Naval Comdr. Macdonald Ubah ,Rtd, has cross carpeted to the All Progressive Congress(APC) with thousands of his supporters and members of APGA from the federal constituency.

In a ceremony held to recieve the former APGA National Assembly Candidate into the APC fold at Ward B Ubakala, in Umuahia South local government area of Abia, and covered by newsmen at the weekend, MacDonald Ubah, posited that the defection was necessary at this point in time after he had embarked on consultation with his support base across Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency.

He further said, “we have chosen to move over to the All Progressive Congress to support the party and consolidate on its spread and reach in the state.

“We are going to work hard and we are committed to ensuring that the All Progressive Congress emerge victorious in the next election in Abia state”.

While recieving, the APGA defectors, the APC chairman, Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mr. Ugochukwu Ibeku, described the governing party (APC) as ideologically based and thanked the new members for their boldness and courage in joining the progressives in their quest to entrench good governance in Abia State.

The APC Chairman charged the APGA decampees to adhere strictly to the ideologies of the party as contained in the APC constitution and further counselled them to work collectively to ensure the success of the party in future elections.

Among those who decamped the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, alongside with the ex-House of Representatives Candidate, included, former member that represented Umuahia South in the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu,APGA chairman Umuahia South Local Government Area, Hon. Omerenma Ogbonna and over five hundred(500) supporters that pledged their allegiance to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC
