There was confusion at Akpa-Edem Community in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State last Tuesday when a middle-aged youth of about 25 years allegedly hanged himself on a tree beside a dreaded deity shrine in outskirt of the community.
Reports from the area said that the youth whose name was given as John Asogwa dressed himself up to at-tend a funeral ceremony on that fateful day only to end up in the deity’s shrine where his lifeless body was discovered hanging while his bag parked with clothes hanged on a nearby tree of the deity.
A source close to the fam-ily told reporters that the young man had in the ear-ly hours of that fateful day eaten his meal before tak-ing his bath for the journey he never returned.
It was learnt that the body of the deceased was brought down after some rituals and taken to the de-ity he was allegedly com-mitted to before he took his life.
He was buried at the shrine of the deity to fulfill his alleged contract he had with the deity before his mysterious death.
The state Police Public Relations, Daniel Ndukwe could not be reached but a source at the police circle in Nsukka confirmed the controversial death of the young man.
